Believe it or not, the holidays are almost here! And if you’re stressing out about money, trust me – I’m right there with you.

The holidays should be a time for joy and as stress-free as possible, so we’ve put together a list of 10 ways you can make extra money.

Take 2 hours today, complete everything on this list and you’ll be at least $1,325 richer. Pretty cool, right?

1. Watch Movie Previews

Earnings: $225

Most of you already know about InboxDollars, but did you know that they will pay you to watch movie previews, celebrity videos, the latest news, along with dozens of other videos? Plus, they give you $5 just for signing up.

You need to watch all of the shows in a specific playlist to earn your bucks, so be prepared. InboxDollars lets you know how long the playlist runs before you start watching, and playlists range from a few minutes to about a half hour.

And it’s possible to earn up to $225/month watching these videos (your potential earnings may vary, depending on the videos you are approved for)!

2. Download These Apps

Earnings: $400+

There are a number of companies, including Google, that will pay you to install their app on your cell phone. And they’ll pay you for every month you keep them installed.

The apps collect data from your cell phone and help companies better understand web and mobile usage better — such as what times of day people browse, how long they stay on websites and use apps, and what types of sites and apps are popular (or not).

Here are my favorites (install all of them and earn $400/year or more):

– ShopTracker – If you’re a regular Amazon shopper, you can earn money each month contributing to research to help companies understand what people are buying online. Download and connect this to your Amazon account. They’ll instantly send you a free $3 Visa gift card, plus another $3 for every month you keep it installed.

– MobileExpressions for iPhones – This one can only be downloaded on iPhones. After you’ve installed it for one week, you get to play an instant rewards game for a prize (everyone wins something). I won a $25 Amazon gift card, but some of the other prizes include iPads & Samsung TVs.

– Cross Media Panel – You’ll first after to answer questions about your gender, age and zip code before getting access to this site. But once you do, you can earn $6 in rewards for signing up and an additional $12 per month that you keep the software installed. That’s $150 a year for absolutely no work!

– Nielsen Mobile for iPhone and Android Users – if you have an iPhone, this Nielsen panel will give you points worth up to $50/year to keep this app on your cell phone. You can use these points to buy gift cards that you can then sell online.

3. Take 10 Surveys from This Company

Earnings $20

Swagbucks is one of the only legitimate paid survey apps out there. I’ve heard some of the top-end surveys can pay up to $95, but those are rare and can take awhile to complete. Most surveys pay a buck or two and only take 10-15 minutes.

Also, Swagbucks rewards you with points which can then be redeemed for Paypal or gift cards to Amazon, iTunes, etc. (example: 1000 SBs can be redeemed for $10 Paypal).

4. Go On a Purge

Earnings: Unlimited

For some reason, my closet is still holding on to my prom outfit I wore nearly 10 years ago. It’s never going to fit again, but some combination of laziness and sentiment has kept it from landing on a Goodwill rack.

If you’re like me and have a closet full of stuff you don’t wear, what about selling your clothes to strangers? My favorite platform is Poshmark — the app is super easy to use!

And it’s not just clothes; you can clear all the clutter from your life by selling stuff online.

For my old books from college, I use Bookscouter. Just type your book’s ISBN (International Standard Book Number — it’s near the book’s barcode and copyright info) into the search bar and the site will connect you with more than 25 of the best-paying and most reputable buyback companies online.

Have a bunch of movies or CDs collecting dust on a shelf? Decluttr will pay you for them — plus your Blu-rays, video games and other electronics like cell phones, tablets, game consoles and iPods.

And for virtually everything else, I use letgo. This intuitive app lets you snap a photo and upload your item in less than 30 seconds. Not only does it remove a lot of the hassle of selling things online, it’s 100% free to use.

So, what are you waiting for? Isn’t it time to let go of all that superfluous stuff?

5. Earn Money for Getting into Shape

Earnings: $10+

Need extra motivation for your daily workout? The health app Achievemint lets you earn money for completing healthy activities.

Connect Achievemint to workout apps like Apple’s Healthkit, Fitbit, MyFitnessPal, RunKeeper, Rundouble C25K, Twitter or any other app you already use to track your health and fitness goals. You’ll choose which data to securely share with Achievemint to earn cash for your activities.

For example, you can earn points for logging your weight with MyFitnessPal or hitting step goals with Fitbit.

You can earn cash in $10 increments in cash or an Amazon Gift Card when you reach 10,000 points and there’s no limit on how much you can earn.

Plus, you’ll earn 10 points just for signing up with Achievemint and connecting an app today!

6. Join a Group Savings Challenge

Earnings: $500

Want to save $500 in seven days?

Sign up for the Brightpeak Financial $500 Savings Challenge and they’ll send you homework assignments each day via email meant to help boost your savings quickly.

The challenge lasts a week, so make sure you sign up when you can really dedicate some time to this!

7. Open a New Checking Account

Earnings: $250

We’ve put together a huge list of banks that will pay you just to open a bank account!

There’s no harm in having multiple bank accounts. In fact, I often find it’s helpful to have multiple places to save (I’m less likely to touch the money), so I have savings accounts for my Christmas fund & my vacation fund.

The top bank bonus is $500 right now — head over to this list to see all of the banks in your area that are offering free cash.

8. Get Cashback on All Your Shopping

Earnings: $80

Are you familiar with cash-back shopping sites like Mypoints? They’ll give you a cash rebate if you do your online shopping through their site.

You just need to create a free account and then use their site to shop at your favorite places like Target, Amazon, and Kohl’s (there are 1000s of stores on there – those are just a few). Mypoints will then give you up to 25% cash-back on whatever you purchase! Crazy, right?

I use this year round, but it’s especially helpful at Christmas time. Consider that the average family spent $801 in gifts last year and you can see how fast this would start to add up.

9. Search the Web

Earnings: $25+

A great way to earn extra money is with Microsoft Rewards. The company will actually reward you for making searches on Bing and for browsing the web.

The rewards come via gift cards and it’s not a ton of money, but think about how many times a day you search for something. Those pennies can start to add up pretty quickly…

Use this site for your Christmas shopping, average around 10% in cash-back rebates, and save at least $80 this year!

10. Become a Nielsen Family

Earnings: $20

You’ve heard of Nielsen, right? Yep, the same company that tracks TV ratings. They’ve got a new app that will pay you to scan the groceries in your fridge.

Once you sign up to become a Nielsen Homescan family, the company will send you a free scanner or you can use your smartphone. Every time you go shopping, you simply scan the barcodes on the back of each product and send your data off to Nielsen.

If you want to give it a try, you can fill out the application here: Nielsen Homescan Application (you can’t download this one from the app store; you’ll need to visit their website first).

As an active participant, you earn gift points which you can redeem for different types of merchandise. You can choose electronics, jewelry, household items, and even toys for the kids.

The longer you stay on the panel, the more opportunity you have to earn points towards prizes. You also receive entries for the panel’s many sweepstakes. Prizes include money, vacations, and brand new vehicles.

We hope this list makes your holidays a little less stressful. Have a Merry Christmas! And thanks for being a reader!

Disclosure: Here’s a toast to the affiliate links in this post. May we all be just a little richer today.

When I was in college, I needed all the extra money I could get.

So, in addition to waiting tables, I sometimes answered those ads stuck to the sides of telephone poles — looking for willing participants for medical studies.

Contribute to the advancement of medicine and get paid? They were a student’s dream.

Some required nothing more than a quick survey; others were clinical drug trials to treat various ailments.

And although the ads are now displayed online — rather than on telephone poles — they’re still a great way to earn extra money.

Here are six paid clinical trials and studies for…

1. Psoriasis

M3 Global Research is recruiting psoriasis patients to participate in paid online surveys.

This isn’t a clinical study. You don’t even have to leave your couch.

Register here to get started. After you register, the company will start sending you surveys that pay $10-$100 each if you qualify (they take about 20-30 minutes to complete).

The surveys are tailored to you, ensuring you won’t be spammed with irrelevant emails.

2. Rheumatoid Arthritis

Do you wake up really stiff in the morning? That’s one common sign of rheumatoid arthritis, which affects more than 1.3 million Americans — 75% of whom are women.

If you have rheumatoid arthritis in the knee or hip and are otherwise healthy, you may qualify for studies offering compensation up to $625, depending on the number of study visits. You can find more info here.

3. Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis is the most common chronic joint condition. Approximately 27 million Americans suffer from this condition — and half of all adults will develop symptoms in their knees during their lifetime.

If you’re suffering from osteoarthritis and qualify, depending on the study and the number of study visits, you may earn up to $1,000 for participating. Read more about it here.

4. Sleep

Yes, you could get paid to nap: Jillian Shea, a Penny Hoarder contributor, earned $12,000 from two sleep studies in Boston.

The first step is filling out surveys with information about your sleep patterns and overall health. If you qualify, you’ll be required to complete both physical and psychological exams — and then it’s time to get down to snoozing, er, business.

Though it might sound like a perfect gig, Shea notes “it’s not all comfy pillows and sweet dreams,” and cites challenges including isolation, unusual positions and needles or other medical devices.

5. Migraines

If you’ve never had a migraine, be glad and just take my word for it: They really, really suck.

Local research studies may offer payment/compensation up to $625. These studies help doctors discover better ways to treat — and hopefully eliminate — migraines. (Read more here.)

6. Other Stuff

Even if you’re healthy as a horse, some studies might still apply to you.

One place to look is Covance, a company that “recruits for a variety of patients to participate in paid medical studies, ranging from healthy volunteers to smokers.”

When we looked, Covance had 17 studies open in four different states. Or check out Parexel, which has a range of studies available in Baltimore, as well as this list of seven places to find open clinical trials.

Being a human guinea pig isn’t for everyone — but if you want to make some extra money without a degree or specific training, they might be worth a shot! (Pun very much intended.)

Your Turn: Would you participate in a clinical trial or study?
